It was 1967. The very first Boeing 737s began to fly in the sky and the Beatles released the single All You Need Is Love. In that same year, on the shores of Lake Iseo, Giovanni Besenzoni founded a small artisan company. His specialization?
Nautical components, intelligent technical solutions to make cruising as comfortable as possible in all its aspects. In this sense, all the components such as ladders, cranes, walkways and armchairs, but one could continue, they are essential, like key elements such as water lines or interior spaces. This is because comfort in navigation, as well as in port or at anchor, passes through those elements that are so well integrated and designed that we hardly notice they exist. Today, 55 years after its foundation, in ports all over the world it is incredibly easy to find a crane, a gangway, an armchair and much more from this company, Besenzoni.
We were at the headquarters in Paratico, near Sarnico, on Lake Iseo, where we were able to see first-hand where Besenzoni products are designed and built, but above all what will be the news for 2022.

Besenzoni in 2022
Today at the helm of the company is Giorgio Besenzoni, son of Giovanni Besenzoni, who, during an event dedicated to the press, told us all the news coming in 2022. Besenzoni is present all over the world with 187 representative points in 59 countries. This capillarity demonstrates how the quality of the work carried out in Paratico has over time reached an international audience. How did the company get to this level? With constant research and development work to always be in step (or ahead) of the market. It is no coincidence that the first electric (non-hydraulic) gangways were introduced on the market at the end of 2020 by Besenzoni.
Owners, as well as shipyards, are increasingly attentive to the green turning point that the world is experiencing. Having a range of this type already today means having sensed the direction taken by the market for some time. The series is called BeElectric and already boasts several products in the range: LaPassarella, LaScala and IlSalpAncora. At the end of 2021, the latest addition was also unveiled, IlTenderLift, a novelty for 2022, dedicated to the management of all the operations necessary for hauling / launching tenders and jet skis.
The innovative and sustainable aspect of BeElectric products lies not so much in having an electric power supply, but above all in the absence of the hydraulic unit and oil which makes the systems quieter and the boats lighter.

The weight reduction leads to a series of “savings”, having lower kilos on board and lower installation and maintenance costs. Added to this is also an automatic reduction of fuel with a lower impact on the marine environment. Energy consumption on board is also reduced precisely because the hydraulic power of the engine is not needed. At the same time, the energy itself is optimized, starting from the electronic control of the effort with less current to avoid excessive stress on the system and the structure: management takes place with 24Vdc.
The BeElectric family does not replace what we have seen Besenzoni produce so far.
"Alongside traditional production - explains Giorgio Besenzoni, President of Besenzoni SpA - which still remains our core business, we are enthusiastically tackling important steps towards the design and construction of increasingly environmentally friendly products, because we believe that the issue of sustainability has become essential. "

“Precisely for this reason - continues Besenzoni - for many years and on several levels, our intent to act in a socially responsible way has been aimed not only at the production of new items, but also at business processes. We pay attention to the use of resources by limiting the impact on the environment as much as possible. From the most banal, but still drastic reduction in the use of paper in offices, to the choice of completely rethinking packaging materials, which have been replaced with more sustainable and equally valid alternatives. We have made updates and replacements of machinery with new less impacting solutions: for example we use a new water cutting system that does not use mineral oil but electric pumps to avoid pollution and dispersions ".
UNICA Besenzoni
In recent years Besenzoni has also started a new division, Unica, dedicated to superyachts which over time is becoming increasingly important. In a growing and increasingly demanding market, the company aims to provide custom products from design to construction, as well as support for on-board assembly and after-sales assistance throughout the world.

An example of the potential of this division is the Balcony, a balcony-window that can also be installed towards the bow, at the height of the owner's cabin, where the curvature of the side tends to make it difficult to customize the boat. Balcony is in fact composed of a window and a balcony, which can also be moved independently, which the owner can manage with a touch screen positioned in the cabin.
About Besenzoni
Already in 1973 the company demonstrated its creative and technical potential by launching the stern platform with Besenzoni ladder, at the time seen as a true technological revolution. Years passed, but this vocation for "revolutionary" innovations did not fail. Between '92 and '93 the retractable side door became "Innovative Product 1992-1993" recognized by the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo Da Vinci in Milan and then in 2002 the super compact Magic crane won the METS DAME Award of Amsterdam, in fact the most important recognition in the world in nautical components. Besenzoni repeated this historic result in 2017 with the P400 Matrix pilot chair. Again in 2020 the company proved to be looking to the future with the launch the first electric gangway in order to provide an alternative to the classic hydraulic gangway, a trend confirmed in 2021 and also for 2022 with other components.
