The Ice Rib Challenge arrives in Canada
Sergio Davì and his Nautilus Explorer finally reach the Canadian coasts of Terranova and Labrador After a very long pause, waiting for a good window of good weather to allow navigation in the Labrador Sea, Sergio Davì and his Nautilus Explorer have finally reached St Anthony, the first of three Canadian ports planned for the route that will take him to New York. The brave captain has used this long pause to enjoy these unique Greenland landscapes. It has in fact touched two ports: first Tasiilaq (Assamalik), where it was warmly welcomed by the Italian explorer Robert Peroni and a group of children who greeted the torch of peace, then Qaqortoq where, except for an unpleasant episode in the days of August ( some thieves got on board taking away at the end only a couple of keys of respect), for the rest everything went well. In St. Anthony, Sergio Davì is a welcome guest of the port authority that provided the berth. Davì has landed in the Canadian port yesterday 19 August, around 15.00 local time. About 650 nautical miles traveled, totally solo, in 44 hours, many of them in displacement, ie at an average cruising speed of about 7 knots, to oppose the danger of icebergs and rough seas. We recall that the company is performing on board of a completely standard New Jolly Marine Prince 38cc inflatable boat, powered by two Suzuki DF350A dual prop outboards, with just a few adjustments to tackle navigation at extreme latitudes in comfortable conditions easy. Thanks to the tensile structure made by the Toti nautical upholstery and the special seats made by Besenzoni, the captain is managing to face difficult hours of navigation, sheltering himself from rain, wind and cold. To stay informed about the ICE RIB CHALLENGE it will be sufficient to consult the website www.ciuriciurimare.com or the social pages: Sergio Davì Adventures (Facebook) and sergiodavi_adventures (Instagram).
