With the Hawk 38 the UK-based builder is returning to its performance roots.
In contrast to the XS2000 and XS Sport models, which are 18 years older, Sunseeker has opted for the first time for outboards instead of inboard diesels. The partnership with Italian firm FB Design was resumed. Fabio Buzzi - with 43 world speed records and 55 world championships to his name - designed, manufactured and tested the Hawk 38 on Lake Como. Sunseeker handles fitting her out, including with 2 Mercury 298 kW, 62-knot Verado 400Rs. The Hawk 38's unsinkability, which results from FB Design's foam core design, makes her eminently suitable for dayboat use. The 11-metre-LOA and just 2.30-metre-beam tri-stepped hull is widened and stabilised by 30-centimetre inflatable tubes. They reduce pitching and the risk of colliding with her parent yacht when in use as a chase boat. Additional comfort is provided by four spring-mounted Besenzoni bucket seats with Silvertex fabrics, while a day head is concealed forward of the helm position - best used when not at top speed.
