From Palermo to New York with a dinghy just like yours.
With one RIB and two engines like the ones you can commonly find on the market - a 11-meter Nuova Jolly Prince 38 cc and two Suzuki DF350A outboards - Sergio Davi will get New York from Palermo. He set sail on June 21st for what is a true challenge that is expected to last at least 75 days. He will sail 7000 nautical miles, sailing between Northern Europe, land, Greenland, USA and Canada. He will perform his crossing mostly solo on board a Nuova Jolly Nautilus Explorer. If you're thinking that the latter is a unique model specifically designed for this challenge. you're totally wrong. The RIB of this challenge is a 100% standard model, with the only exception of windscreen and seats. And the challenge is just that: to handle extreme conditions with a 99% cruising RIB. Stability is guaranteed The Nuova Jolly Prince 38 is a 11.30-meter RIB with a deep V-hull that makes her practically safe and stable in any sea condition. Stability is guarantee by two large floats and a considerable beam of 3.80 meters that results into a perfect mix of stability and performance. Spaces on board are abundant enough. Both forward and aft, there are tables where to have a meal and spacious storage compartments under the seats. The Prince 38 has even a small cabin where to have a rest in total comfort. Power comes from two outboards that deliver 800HP in total. For his crossing, Sergio Davi has chosen two Suzuki DF350A engines, 350 HP each. This (standard) outboard model is the most powerful ever developed by Suzuki characterized by twin double counter-rotating DUAL PROP propellers for better control and grip as well as a powerful V6 55-degree 4,390 cc thermal unit for better planing performance and trim. For his crossing, Sergio Davi has equipped his Prince 38 with a "domed" windscreen that makes the helm station dry and safe. Another change to the standard model is represented by seats. For his 500-hour navigation. Davi has chosen Besenzoni seats to enjoy the best comfort on board. Follow Sergio Davi's challenge on the "Sergio Davi Adventure" APP.
