THE RECENTLY LAUNCHED
High-performance day boat Hawk 38 has been chosen as tribute to late Sunseeker International founder Robert Braithwaite, who passed away in March this year.
The first 10 boats will sport a polished stainless-steel plaque on the helm dashboard, emblazoned with the founder's name and numbered RB001 to RB010. The most technologically advanced performance boat from the UK builder, this project underwent 24 months in development, 12 weeks in build and many hours in sea trials. The Hawk 38 draws from the company's performance heritage in its racing roots, delivering a top speed of nearly 61 knots in a safe, comfortable and dynamic ride. Powered by Hypalon 866 STAB tubes and Mercury 400R engines, it delivers exceptional turn-in and grip.
Four Besenzoni racing seats provide shock absorbing mitigation, and occupants can choose to either sit or stand with optimal comfort and safety. A cocooning helm station, located centrally, is shielded by an integrated double-curvature ventilated glass screen with a black carbon- fibre hard top. The console unit comes with a Simrad navigation system consisting of the newest 16-inch Evo3 touch screen multifunction display with GPS and Wi-Fi capability. There is integrated control of all essential systems with the CZone DC that is accessible from the screen. The leather-trimmed tilt steering wheel incorporates full control of the navigation systems for power-assisted steering. Experience maximum wind-in-hair action on the sunbathing pad located at the foredeck that contains elevated fixed headrests and an optional foredeck sail canopy. Aft-facing U-shaped seating surrounds a stowable quick-release carbon table. A triple bench seat at the stern provides room for two drawer fridges underneath. Built-in storage can be found throughout the boat, like the stowage locker at the bow with space for plenty of toys and bulkhead-mounted charging units for two Seabobs, and the large central deck locker with space for a life raft or inflatable paddleboard. A racer in his early career, Braithwaite held a passion for speed and performance. The Hawk 38 is the last project to carry his fingerprints, making it a fitting homage.
