Besenzoni is proud to have participated as a sponsor of the Paola Galeazzi Award, organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Barche magazine.
The competition, designed to encourage innovation in yacht design, attracted 144 young talents, invited to create a "nonexistent" boat — a leisure boat project, whether sail, motor, or motor sailer, ranging from 10 to 50 meters in length.
This special award honors the memory of Paola Galeazzi, a pioneer in naval architecture, who passed away in 2017. With a career marked by integrity and futuristic vision, alongside her husband Giovanni Zuccon, Galeazzi contributed to the iconic projects of the Zuccon International Project studio, a reference point for the international yachting industry.
Young designers from all over the world participated in the competition, from Italy to the United States, from India to Turkey. The award ceremony took place in the splendid setting of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Museum in Milan, with an international jury chaired by Professor Architect Giovanni Zuccon. The top three finalists were awarded a scholarship and the opportunity for a paid internship at shipyards or design studios.
Besenzoni's commitment to this award is driven by the belief that the future of yachting depends on the ability to enhance young talent and foster design creativity.
The Paola Galeazzi Contest trophy stems from the vision of Giorgio Besenzoni and the work of his team. Created through the use of CNC machines and the skill of artisans, this trophy is a steel cylinder that recalls the symbolic baton passed in sports relays, representing the legacy to be passed on to future designers.
The award ceremony symbolizes an ideal passage: the style and values of Paola Galeazzi are transferred to all the contest participants. Young designers, inspired by the founder of Zuccon International Project alongside Giovanni Zuccon, will carry on her example with dedication and vision.
